A full high-resolution scan of the “Girl with a Pearl Earring” image was made using the Hirox 3D Digital Microscope RH-2000 in Mauritshuis in The Hague (NL) with the support of the conservator Abbie Vandivere during the technical examination “Girl in the Spotlight”: www.mauritshuis.nl/en/girlinthespotlight

The aim of the study was to obtain more information about Vermeer painting techniques, surface condition assessment, crack measurements and topography of various key areas.

10G pixels of panorama were created in one night. 9100 3D multi-focus files were made automatically and then combined into one panorama in which one pixel has the equivalent of 4.4um.
